Random goals I've jotted down for my novel-in-progress:
Beauty meets Jane Eyre.
Simple elegance.
Historical fantasy.
In first-person but feel as though it's in third.
Inspired by the Six Swans fairytale, but "flies off on the peacock wings of the novelist's invention."

Oooh! Just /reading/ that is exciting, and I cannot wait to hear how your story progresses. Will you maybe post some snipits?
Could you explain that second to last goal... I don't get it...:-{
Just a fancy way of saying that Nederland won't be a strict retelling ... several main elements are rooted in the source material, but I'm spinning other elements in completely different directions.
:)
Ooh, I want to read that book!
Me too! ;) I think authors should always write books they're super-excited to discover. Otherwise, why waste your time?
It'll be a while, though. It took me three years to get from this brain-storming stage to finished product with my first novel, The Jonah Bottle. But I mean to enjoy the ride.
