What's on Your Nightstand?

I've never participated in 5 Minutes for Books' What's on Your Nightstand project, though I enjoy reading the lists other bloggers post.

But I think June's nightstand stack is worthy of note because: I have not read any fiction at all this month! May has been fiction-free, and while it was enjoyable--in a way--I've also had some shaky days where I really. needed. fiction.

However, June 1st is right around the corner, and my nightstand is piled high. Here's looking forward to:

The Reluctant Heiress, by Eva Ibbotson
Strawberry Hill, by Mary Ann Hoberman
Darkwood, by M.E. Breen
The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate, by Jacqueline Kelly
Eyes Like Stars, by Lisa Manchev
Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo (I'm 7/10 done)
Brian Hambric, by Kaleb Nation
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister: A Novel by Gregory Maguire

How about you?

I have a more modest list:

The Side-yard Superhero by Rick D. Niece
Red Moon at Sharpsburg by Rosemary Wells
The Native Ground by Kathleen DuVal
The Health of the Country: How American Settlers Understood Themselves and Their Land by Conevery Valencius

The last two are nonfiction that I'm using for research on my own writing. But I'm not brave enough to give up fiction altogether!

What a great list. I applaud you for sticking it out with Les Miserables. Great book... but Hugo gets off on those random tangents and the reading slows. I know because he had several in The Hunchback.

One of the other women in my book club had seen the Little Dorrit adaptation, so she was encouraging us to read Little Dorrit. I just wanted to read another Dickens, so this worked out well. :)
