But what about 2008? What stories deserve fanfare as the best of the new? My personal top ten (in no particular order) ring up as follows:
The Penderwicks on Gardam Street, by Jeanne Birdsall
The Underneath, by Kathi Appelt
Trouble, by Gary Schmidt
Jellicoe Road, by Melina Marchetta
Savvy, by Ingrid Law
The Adoration of Jenna Fox, by Mary Pearson
The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins
Impossible, by Nancy Werlin

Have only read Trouble and Jenna Fox. Loved the former, but I'm afraid I got my hopes up too high for the latter based on how excited bloggers were getting. I was expecting it to be incredible and profound and, well, it fell short for me, though I liked it.
Oh, read Jellicoe Road, by Melina Marchetta. It's really good.
I've been meaning to read Jenna Fox. These year end/new year lists are reminding me of a lot of great books.
Three of those are on my top-list, too. :)
