Childhood Heroes

Not really book-related, but ... oh, wait! She has an auto, Voice of an Angel: My Life (So Far), oh, and, hmm, here's another auto, Keep Smiling, but anyway:

I loved, loved, loved Charlotte Church when I was thirteen. (And fourteen. And fifteen.) You probably heard me scream when I got tickets to her performance at the Chicago Theater. She introduced me to Carrickfergus. Then she went pop. And now ... she's a mum. Twice over. Wow.

Just thought you might like to know.

I got that CD for my birthday when I turned seven! I really loved that...and it was like the first CD I'd ever owned. :)

Ah! A new autobiography? I sort of saw that coming, given she published the first one when she was, what, fifteen? I love her older music, but I didn't get into her until she had crossed over to the dark (pop) side. That article's interesting. She does sound like she's doing better than many celebs, but I don't have as high an opinion of her as the interviewer seems to...it's kind of funny the way she goes out of her way to excuse Charlotte's antics.

That makes me feel old, Erin!

Cuileann, I grew out of her right before she went into pop. Didn't even know about that last album until yesterday. (Freaky, considering my previous level of obsession.)

I agree, it's difficult to have a high opinion of her. Which is why I moved on. The nice thing is, an album freezes time. You can still go back and enjoy her early work ... though it's slightly tainted by later "antics."
